Called “The World of Laughs” the festival begins on May 12th 2022, and will come on May 22nd. It’s an excellent option for those looking for an entertaining distraction after the Eid al-Fitr break. Comedians Line Up for the “The World of Laughs”

What makes a comedy show successful? A unique sense of humour of a comedian. As mentioned previously, Dubai Comedy Festival has had two successful seasons before this. In 2022, they stepped up the game and invited International comedy legends such as Russell Peters, Jo Koy and Vir Das. Not just them; there are a lot of other talents that include names like Josh Widdicombe and Gad Elmaleh. The Laughter Factory also features Ali Sultan, Daisy Earl, Corey Rodrigues, Ger Stauton, Aurie Styla and John Fothergill.

• Russell Peters

Kickstarting the Dubai Comedy Festival 2022 is the hilarious Russell Peters. This funny man came into the limelight in 2004 with the TV Show “Comedy Now” in Canada. It wasn’t the television telecast that did the magic for him, but a YouTube clipping of it that made him a fan favourite. He’s the 1st comedian to sell out Air Canada Centre in Toronto and is known for breaking a comedy sales record at UK’s O2 Arena. Interestingly, this Canadian stand-up is also an actor and producer. 

• Vir Das

If you’re looking for some relatable comedy, we recommend attending Vir Das’ comedy show. The Indian comedian and actor had his first gig at a New Delhi hotel. After which, he started his career on television as a host. He spent years performing in multiple shows and even landed his news comedy show on CNBC-TV18. The charming comedian went on to earn global recognition with the Netflix Original Abroad Understanding. Since then, he has been carving a place for his motherland on the international map.

• Jo Koy

This American stand up comic is known for a series of specials on Comedy Central and Netflix. Wanting to be a comedian since he was 11, he started his career in 1994. After being spotted by a talent coordinator, he got his first TV stint with Comic View. Since then, there has been no looking back for him. He has come a long way from performing at The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to grabbing specials and going on comedy tours. 

• Josh Widdicombe

An English comedian and presenter, Josh Widdicombe is best known for the multi-award-winning series, “The Last Leg”. He started performing live comedy shows in 2008 and bagged a final position at “So You Think You’re Funny” in the same year. As time passed, Josh became a big name not just simply through comedy shows but also by becoming a contributor, British National radio show host, writer, and actor. If you’re attending the Dubai Comedy Festival 2022, make sure you attend his show. His impersonations, in particular, are sure to make you laugh out loud. 

• Gad Elmaleh

This Moroccan-Canadian comedian is super reputed in countries like France, Morocco and the United States. Besides being a big name in comedy, Gad Elmaleh has starred in various feature films in Paris. This year at the Dubai Comedy Festival 2022, France’s highest voted funny man has a one-person show. For those who speak or understand French, attending Gal’s show is a must. You’re sure to have a good laugh and become a fan.
